Empower all ELLs with the academic language and literacy skills they need to access grade-level content!
Did You Know?
Children who read more than 10 pages per day score 10% higher in reading proficiency.
Reading for just 10 minutes per day increases the number of words a child reads in a year by more than half a million.
We use Santillana's Spotlight on English for our Reading. Spotlight on English is a balanced reading program that provides academic English students need through content-based and standards-based lessons, while addressing the proficiency needs of every student in every lesson with differentiated instruction using proven methodologies and innovative teaching strategies.
We also use the following Online Reading Resources regularly.
What is it?
Raz-Kids (Kids A-Z/Reading A-Z) is an online reading resource. It contains 400+ eBooks along with comprehension quizzes for each book. These books are leveled across 27 levels so that your child is reading appropriate and engaging books! It helps students increase reading fluency by allowing them to independently read the books, or read along. Students can even record themselves reading to help them monitor their own reading fluency. The more books they read and quizzes they complete; the more points they will earn towards their RAZ-Rocket!
I have provided your child with a log-in and level to access the books. As your child completes the activities, I will have access to monitor his or her growth and progress. I also have the access to change the reading level if necessary.
How do I access it?
You can find Raz-Kids at https://www.raz-kids.com. It can be accessed on any computer, iPad, Android, Kindle Fire, iPhone, and iPod Touch. All apps for the program are free to download onto any mobile devices.
Your child has my username and password for the program. I have done this with them in class so they should be familiar with it. If you have additional questions, please let me know.
Happy Reading!
